THE FERNS ARE IN FASHION!

It is increasingly common to see ferns in all stores and decoration magazines. It is a very decorative and lush plant, also perfect for hanging on any wall. However many have asked us about their care. Is it an easy plant to maintain? Will I die quickly? The fern is not a cactus, but with proper care, the fern grows continuously throughout the year.

To help you with the cultivation of your ferns, we have started a collaboration with Alba of the project @verdopolis Alba is a biologist based in Barcelona, passionate about urban cultivation and natural dissemination. Through email and social networks we will spread our passion for ferns ;-)

Did you know that fern is one of the oldest plants that exist? Surely, more than once you will have heard of them as "living fossils" since they have adapted over the years and still retain those characteristics that make them so special.

FEATURES

- They do not form flowers, fruits or seeds, but reproduce by spores.

- Its leaves are not leaves, but fronds.

- Their stems and rhizomes are usually covered with hairs or scales to protect themselves from drying out.

- Most ferns can be multiplied by killing division. That is to say: we take a fern, we take it out of the pot and we separate it in the ferns that we want dividing the earth bread. Then we transplant them and that's it.

CARE NEEDED

Light: we must avoid the direct rays of the sun no matter what. Ideally, a bright place without direct sun.

Irrigation: always moist soil (but without flooding) and moisture in the substrate. In summer, water very frequently with a small amount of water (about 2 or 3 times a week), always monitoring the state of the earth. To keep moisture it is best to spray your leaves daily with warm water. Another option is to place the pot on a plate with water and place the fern next to other plants. As a precaution, we recommend that you do not place it near the heating or in places of passage, since the currents can ventilate the environment and dry it out.

Temperature: in spring and summer, the fern prefers to be between 21 and 24ºC. In winter, if you can keep it at 16 or 17ºC it will also be appreciated.
