Since plastic started to be used in the mid-20th century, more than 1 tonne of plastic has already been produced per person. 1000 kg of plastic per person - that's a lot! More plastic has already been produced than each of us could ever need in a lifetime.
.
Plastic is a light and resistant material, with properties such as impermeability, which make it a very good solution for storing water in automatic irrigation systems. The vast majority of plastics come from non-renewable sources. However, that is not the biggest problem.
.
There are 2 major problems with the use of plastic:
- Single-use plastic accounts for 40% of all plastic produced. These products are often difficult to separate and recycle, and end up being burned, in landfills or worse, in the natural environment, where they are in danger of becoming microplastics that invade everything. Single-use plastic products should be banned.
- Plastic is a very resistant, very durable material that can be recycled in most cases. But we only recycle 25%! 15% is incinerated, releasing highly polluting gases, and the remaining 60% accumulates in landfills and natural environments, making our cities and towns ugly.
.
We want to be part of the solution, transforming all types of plastic waste into high-quality furniture, offering a circular solution to the challenge of plastic waste.

ACTIONS TO PROMOTE THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
.
All business activities have an impact on the environment, from obtaining raw materials to distributing products, including their manufacturing. At CitySens we believe that a good product must always be accompanied by minimum impact on the environment.
- First of all, all our products are designed for a lifespan of more than 20 years. We design under eco-design criteria, taking into account the entire life cycle of the products, from manufacturing to their final reuse or recycling.
- We only work with high quality, recycled and recyclable plastic. Our Spanish suppliers buy recycled plastic, shred it and use it to make the parts for the new CitySens products.
- We work with recovered fabrics, to give them a second chance and prevent them from ending up in the landfill.
- We also work with PEFC-certified wood for forest sustainability from the Basque Country.
- In addition, we use cardboard and paper for our packaging, avoiding single-use plastic.
- In all components, we prioritize local suppliers, to support the local economy and at the same time reduce the environmental impact of transport as much as possible.
We are a young and innovative company, eager to provide solutions to new challenges in urban decoration and gardening. At the same time, we feel responsible for taking care of the planet, helping those who need it most and supporting the economic development of the community of people around us. Thank you for being part of this beautiful project!
